Gerald David Tardie

Portage – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Tardie, 59, who died Sunday, December 21, 2025, at his home in Portage, Maine. Gerald was born on September 7, 1966, in Meriden, CT, the beloved son of Herman Gerald Tardie and Evelyn Joyce (Theriault) Tardie.
Gerald spent the last 12 years with Cindy by his side, sharing the last 8 as husband and wife. He found great joy and satisfaction in his work, operating heavy equipment and dedicating his skills to the lumber mills in Ashland.
Gerald was known for his vibrant personality and his ability to light up any room. He loved telling stories to anyone around him and was affectionately known as "Bubs" by those close to him. He was always laughing and ready with a one-liner for any situation. Beyond his humor, Gerald possessed a big heart and was always willing to help anyone he could. His passion extended to his garage, where he loved to work on anything, and could often be found tinkering with his square body truck.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Herman and Evelyn (Theriault) Tardie, and his sons, Dennis Tardie and Mathew Tardie.
Gerald is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy; his step-sons, Garret Walker and his wife Morgan, and Chris Walker; and his four adored granddaughters, Elizabeth Walker, Ayda Walker, Olivia Walker, and Addison Walker. He also leaves behind many loving family members and close friends, including his special niece, Amber Nemer.
A graveside service will be held 2 PM Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Saint Marks Catholic Cemetery in Ashland. Arrangements in care of Duncan – Graves Funeral Home 30 Church St., Presque Isle, ME 04769.
