Gates: Monday, March 2, 2026, at age 87. He was born in Rochester, NY on March 8, 1938, to Clarence & Irene Thurley. He is predeceased by his son, Todd Thurley; brothers, Tom and Richard (Joan) Thurley; mother, Irene [Barber] Thurley; father, Clarence Thurley. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Donna "Rusti" Thurley; children, Debbie (Dom) Mammoliti, Doug (Julie) Thurley, Monica (Nik) Urbanczyk, and Kelly (Kevin) Years; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Joanne Johnston; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gerry was a Gates Police Sergeant from June 24, 1963, until March 3, 1987. He loved camping and traveling on his motorcycle.
Friends may call Thursday, MARCH 19, 2026, from 3:00-7:00 pm at DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Gates. On Friday, MARCH 20, 2026, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 152 Main Street, Brockport. Interment, Grove Place Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Police Benevolent Association, 1425 Lexington Avenue, Rochester, NY 14606 (Venmo or mail) or Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450 in his memory.

How do you add a "memory" I worked with Jerry for 25 years, he was my friend for almost 50 years, people who knew him have a thousand memories, where to start, where to end. I believe we all have our favorite memories that rest within us that we fondly recall and laugh, sometimes cry, but will remember all the same. Laurie and I are sad at your passing but Rest well my friend.
