Gerald R. Toft
Gerald “Gerry” Robert Toft, age 69, went to be with our Lord on December 1, 2025, after a long battle with illness.
Gerry is the son of Erdine Toft and the late Robert Toft. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Alyce with whom he has two children, Jeremy (Laura Nicole) Toft and Joseph Toft.
He is survived by his present wife and loving caregiver, Kathryn Toft. Also surviving are his siblings Gary Toft and Gwyn (Jeff) Oakley, nephews Jordan and Connor (Ellen) and niece Taylor, and Uncle Dennis (Shirley) Card.
Gerry is also blessed to have an extended family of “children,” Jessica (Ray), Daniel (Alissa), Alyssa (Corey) and Steven Bennett, and his precious dog, “Barkley.” Gerry and Kathryn are blessed to have 10 grandchildren: Corbyn, Aerryn, Jadyn, Sebastayn, and Sophia, Chloe, Vincent, Natalie, Evan, and Miyah.
He graduated from OFA in 1974 and served in the United States Navy from 1974-1976. Gerry was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues, winning trophies and adorned a bowling ring for his accomplishments.
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with friends whether playing cards, corn hole, camping, going to concerts or watching Giants football. Gerry was active in helping plan yearly reunions with his
OFA class until his illness escalated. Fortunately, he was able to attend his 50th reunion this past summer.
Gerry was a member of the Richford Congregational Church where he participated in the Christmas nativity and attended mass when his health permitted.
Without even trying, Gerry could put a smile on your face with his witty humor! Heaven is gaining one amazing man.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, New York, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A service celebrating his life will take place following visitation with Pastor Chris Corlett officiating. Gerry will be laid to rest in Broadway Cemetery. Memories and condolences can be shared in his online guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to The American Kidney Fund, American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
