Geraldine Lee Brown was born on January 11, 1949, in Newark, N.J., to the late parents of James Halton Sr. and Julia Halton. She was predeceased by her siblings James Halton Jr. and Alberta Halton and her grandson Devon Dillahunt. Geraldine attended the Newark Public School System and graduated from Weequahic High School in 1967. Geraldine was affectionately known as “Gerry.” married her high school sweetheart, Oscar Brown Sr., and within this union, they were blessed with their one and only daughter, Delinda Stephanie Dillahunt. Geraldine was employed at Sealand Shipping for 15 years as a Jr. Accountant before her early retirement. Post retirement, she nurtured her entrepreneurial spirit and opened a fashion boutique, DeLin-Gere Fashions, where she traveled to many states for decades to obtain the latest fashions for her family, friends, and customers. Geraldine accepted Our Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She attended Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., for many years. Gerry resided in Roselle for over 25 years and was active in the community, participating on the Senior Committee as well as working the polls during the election process over the years. Geraldine leaves to mourn her devoted and loving daughter Delinda S, Dillahunt, her son in law Lemuel Dillahunt Jr.(Lem), her grandson Xavier Dillahunt, her estranged husband Oscar Brown Sr., her aunt Doris (Missy) Powell, 2 brother in laws John Scudder Sr., Scottie Myers Sr., sister in law Valerie Brown, chosen sister Cecilia Hutchins, her godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
