Geraldine Brown Obituary

Obituary of Geraldine L. Brown

Geraldine (Gerry) L Brown

October 27, 1932 – September 14, 2025

Geraldine Lindblad was born on October 27, 1932, in Svea, Minnesota to Carl and Myrtle Lindblad. She graduated from Willmar High School in 1950. She attended and graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis in 1952.

On March 4, 1956, at Calvary Lutheran Church at 39th and Chicago, she married James N. Brown from Minneapolis. Three children were born into their marriage: David, Wendy and Mary Sue.

They lived in many locations and homes including Minneapolis, St. Louis Park MN (twice) Stewartville MN, Churchville PA, Burnsville MN, Apple Valley, MN and Eagan, MN. With each of these moves Gerry's decorating and landscaping touches and her care for the family and homes were always evident.

Gerry, like Jim, was always very active in the churches they were members of. Whether it was singing in the choir, leading children's choir, participating or leading bible studies, being a part of committees and boards, her faith was important to her. Many lifelong friendships were established at church.

Gatherings with family and relatives were something special she enjoyed. She was a natural hostess. Her skills in baking and cooking were enjoyed by many. At Christmas we all enjoyed her Swedish hardtack and Christmas cookies.

Gerry was a skilled seamstress, making a variety of items for the family and each of their homes. She also enjoyed creating beautiful cross-stitched and Hardanger pieces. She loved getting her hands dirty in her many flower and vegetable gardens.

Gerry passed away at Valley Ridge Presbyterian Home in Burnsville, with hospice care provided by Our Lady of Peace Hospice of St. Paul, at the age of 92. A special thank you to the staff of Valley Ridge and Our Lady of Peace who cared for her with love and dignity. She is survived by daughter Wendy (Don) Johnson of Savage, daughter Mary Sue (David) Schwarz of Andover, daughter-in-law Cheryl Brown of Eagan. Grandchildren Chris (Lindsey) Johnson, Laura (Travis) Young, Nicole (Marc) Hilgert, Matt (Emily) Schwarz, Ben Schwarz and great-grandchildren Samantha, Kiyah, Micah, Asher, Noah and Hazel.

Gerry is preceded in death by her husband Jim, son David Brown, parents Carl and Myrtle Lindblad, and brother Elloid Lindblad.

A Celebration of Gerry's life is planned for Saturday, September 27, 2025, with a visitation at 2:00 and a Memorial Service following at 3:00 at Living Word Lutheran Church, 4300 Nicols Road, Eagan, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice, St. Paul or Living Word Lutheran Church.
