Geraldine “Geri” Rosa Carr, affectionately known as Mama Carr, 82, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, at her home in York, SC. Born on May 1,1942, in Norton, VA she was the daughter of the late Harry Grubb and Georgie Kokoska.
Geri was a devoted woman who deeply loved the Lord and her family. She had a beautiful spirit and was a true child of God. She was a gifted singer and musician. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin Carr, three sons, Franklin Carr Jr. Franklin Carr III and Allen Sturgill, her daughter, Rhonda Carr, and brother, Eddie Sexton.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Bonnie Sexton (Carol) of Hampton, VA, Alice Malone (Junior) of Coburn, VA, and Gordon Sexton of Coburn, VA. She leaves behind her cherished children, Jeffrey Sturgill of York, SC, Patricia Bennett (“Bennie”) of Rock Hill, SC, Vickie Laswon of York, SC, Chien Phan (Amanda) of Clover, SC, Patricia Sturgill of Cumming, GA, Joe Carr (Elizabeth) of Houston, TX, and Bobby Carr (Norma) of Nicholasville, VA.
