Geraldine Thornton JONES

Geraldine Thornton Jones, 90 of Warren, OH departed this life Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 2:05 p.m. at Community Skilled Healthcare Center, following complications from an extended illness.

She was born December 20, 1934 in Luverne, AL, the daughter of Boisey and Amanda Bryant Thornton, residing in the area for 70 years, coming from Luverne.

Geraldine was employed with Ohio Lamp General Electric for 29 years as an Inspector, before retiring in 1996. She was a 1950 graduate of Crenshaw County Trade School.

She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and shopping.

She married Hayes Jones April 1, 1969, he died May 25, 2019.

She leaves to mourn four sons, Gary (Felicia) Thornton of Columbus, Anthony Thornton of Loganville, GA, Andrew (Tonia) Thornton and Michael (Towan) Jones both of Warren; one daughter, Ms. Diane Thornton of Warren; one grandson she reared, Christian Black of Warren; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Frank Thornton, Cleveland Thornton, Wiley Thornton and Glen Thornton and five sisters, Mrs. Neathel Warner, Ethel Favors, Lillie Mae Smith, Luella Adamson and Mary Alice Thornton.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 28, 2025 at 12 noon at the Trinity Baptist Church, with Calling Hours from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery.
