COHOES Geraldine M. McCloud, 69, entered into eternal life Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Daniel B. McCloud, Sr. and Peggy Law Buchanan. She was raised in Yankton, South Dakota and worked at Gurney's Seed Co. in her early years. As someone who always loved the ocean, she moved to Myrtle Beach where she enjoyed selling swimsuits on the boardwalk. She also modeled swimsuits in Myrtle Beach and was an artist. Thereafter, she relocated to the Capital District area where she has resided ever since.
Gerri owned and operated A.J. Nicky's Taxi in Cohoes for many years until retiring due to disability. She will be remembered for having the biggest heart, the sweetest smile and the bluest eyes you ever saw. She did everything to provide for her children; taking care of all of her family and helping to raise the children of other families as well. She always put others first, often sacrificing to help those in need. She also was an animal lover, thoroughly enjoyed coffee and would never think of leaving the house without her makeup on.
Gerri is survived by her loving husband, George Demary; by her beloved children, Ashley M. McCloud-Smith (Johnny Conrad), Jessica P. McCloud (Shawn Dobert) and Nicholas D. McCloud (Denise); by her adopted son, Nicholas Ulmer; and by her siblings, Rodney McCloud, David McCloud and Jackie McCloud. She is also survived by her grandchildren who she loved more than anything, Alexander D. McCloud, Isabelle P. Langlais and Olivia M. Dobert as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Daniel McCloud Jr. and Christopher McCloud.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
