Geraldine Reynolds Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Midlothian Funeral Home on Aug. 27, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Geraldine Reynolds was born on November 30, 1936, in Howe, Texas, to Henry and Maude Foster, and entered into eternal rest on August 22, 2025. Affectionately known as "Gerry" to her friends, Geraldine was the last surviving of eleven siblings.

She is survived by her three children: son Russell Reynolds and wife Liz of Inola, Oklahoma; son Brad Reynolds and wife Tamra of Shallowater, Texas; and daughter Reneé Hill and husband Cam of Midlothian, Texas. She is also survived by her bonus daughter, Darla Malone of Altus, Oklahoma. Geraldine was blessed with nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her great joy.

Geraldine grew up in Howe, Texas, and on July 3, 1957, she married John Reynolds of Van Alstyne. The couple made their home in Duncanville, Texas, where they shared 38 years of marriage. Except for a three-year period in Howe, they spent nearly their entire married life in Duncanville, where they lovingly raised their three children. Geraldine was a faithful member of the Duncanville Church of Christ, where she formed many cherished and lifelong friendships.

Answering a heartfelt calling to care for children, Geraldine and John opened their home to 49 foster children over the years. Some stayed only briefly, while others remained longer before being adopted or reunited with their families. Each child brought unique blessings and left lasting memories that continue to be treasured today.

Professionally, Geraldine worked many years with AT&T before retiring from the Yellow Pages department in 1993. Throughout her life, she called several places home, including Duncanville, Midlothian, Sherman, and Lewisville.

In her later years, Geraldine was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. As the illness progressed, her family experienced the sorrow of slowly losing the Geraldine they had always known, while also discovering and cherishing the new version of her that emerged. Eventually, the progression of her illness required her move to Timber Rock House in Midlothian, where the owners and care team became an extended family. Geraldine was not just a resident there-she was embraced as part of the Timber Rock family, loved and cared for as if she were their own mother or grandmother. The entire staff, led by Debbie Corkin, showed extraordinary compassion, kindness, and love, sharing laughter, tears, stories, recipes, and countless meaningful moments with Geraldine and her family. Her four years at Timber Rock were a true blessing from God, and our family will be forever grateful. We knew she was exactly where she needed to be, and the bonus family she gained there will never be forgotten. The staff and residents of Timber Rock House will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28 at Midlothian Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery on Friday August 29 at 11:00 a.m.
