Geraldine "Gerrie" Shields

SHIELDS, Geraldine "Gerrie" – age 89, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024. She was surrounded by love as she entered her Heavenly home. A Funeral Service to honor Geraldine's life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 3222 S. Genesee Rd., Burton, MI 48519; Pastor Mark Matheny officiating. Interment will take place following the service in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4 PM – 7 PM, Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association, Michigan Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Road, STE 100, Southfield, MI 48033.
Gerrie was born in Hampton Township, MI on February 24, 1935, daughter of the late Herbert E. and Clyone (Wilson) Massoll. She married Eugene "Gene" Shields on April 5,1952 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Essexville and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2011. Gerrie was a devoted member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Burton. She found solace and strength in her faith, which guided her throughout her life's journey. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family when she would always say "I have the best family". Her warmth, love, and laughter filled their lives with endless joy and cherished memories. Her generous heart was a blessing to everyone who knew her.
Gerrie is survived by her children, Mike (Carol) Shields, Cindy (Randy) Garner, Dave (Cindy) Shields and Rob (Terri) Shields; grandchildren, Amy Wohn, Jonathan (Sharon) Shields, Matthew (Sarah) Shields, Andrew (Rachel) Shields, Jerod (Robyn) Asbridge, Nycole (Damien) Christopher, Dave (Sabrina) Asbridge, Jason (Christie) Shields, Bradley (Amber) Shields, Katelyn Kelley and Jacob (Hannah) Shields; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Jamie, Nathaniel, Avery, Jackson, Kenley, Harper, Haley, Quinn, Zackery, Gavin, Zander, Jackson, Magnus, Severin, Jeremy, Jaysen, Wyatt, Gabriel, Maura, Braden, Madelyn and Maisey; one great-great-granddaughter, Cora; sister-in-law, Dorothy Massoll; many other loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert "Jack" Massoll. The family would like to extend a heartfelt and sincere thank you to all the caring staff at Charter Senior Living, especially Adam, Peyton, Jordan, Denise, Whitney, Felishia and Brenna.
