Geraldine Hiles Smith
November 9, 1940 – March 6, 2026

Geraldine Hiles Smith, 85, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Clinton, Ohio, after a courageous and brief battle with cancer.
Geraldine was born in Sciotoville, Ohio, to Ashby Hiles and Lucy Fisher Hiles. She was a proud 1959 graduate of Portsmouth East High School. In 1960, she moved to Wheelersburg, Ohio, where she spent the next sixty years building a life centered around family, community, and service. In 2020, she moved to Clinton, Ohio, where she remained until her passing.
On September 10, 1960, she married the love of her life, Adrian Douglas Smith. Together they shared 65 years of marriage filled with devotion, partnership, and a deep love for their family.
Geraldine dedicated many years of service to the Wheelersburg Local School District, where she worked as assistant to the superintendent before retiring. She was respected for her dedication and kindness by those who worked with her.
She was a longtime member of Wheelersburg Methodist Church.
Above all, Geraldine loved her family. She found great joy in bringing everyone together and making holidays and gatherings special and memorable for those she loved. She also enjoyed reading, writing, sewing, quilting, traveling, and had a special fondness for purple lilies.
Geraldine is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Adrian Douglas Smith; three daughters, Ellen (David) Smith Harnish, Deanna (Donald) Smith Brown and Heather (Louis) Smith Loper; grandchildren, Brennan(Hannah) Harnish, Brady Harnish, Shaelyn (Cody) Ward, Skyler (Brooke) Brown, Shanen (Alexis) Brown, Gracyn (Michael) Zervos and Seth (Dorothy) Loper; great-grandchildren, Nolan Harnish, Kaia Harnish, Levi Ward, Josslyn Zervos and one great-grandchild expected in April.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ashby Hiles and Lucy Fisher Hiles.
No funeral services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity that was special to Geraldine.
Geraldine will be remembered for her love of family, her thoughtful nature, and the care she put into making life special for those around her. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
