Geraldine "Gerry" Walker, 93, of Marion, passed away at 9:24 am on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Miller's Merry Manor in Marion. She was born in Logansport, Indiana, on Tuesday, April 21, 1931, to William and Josephine (Smith) Rowe. She was married to Lonnie Walker, who preceded her in death.
Gerry graduated from Logansport High School and was a clerk for 32 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago, Illinois. She had donated to several charities over the course of her life and was a philanthropist. She moved to Marion to help care for her brother and sister and grew to love the Marion community. Gerry liked to play the lottery but, more than anything, loved spending time with family at BBQs. This is how she wanted her family to celebrate her life.
Survivors include her brothers, Maurice Rowe, Francis (Sandra) Rowe, and John "Joe" (Margaret) Rowe; special nephew, William "Billy" (Mary) Farrell; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pamela Walker; sisters, Shirley Ann Rowe, Leticia Whitney, Pheobe Stewart, and Maxine Dawson; and brothers, Wendell Rowe and Earl Rowe.
The family will host a memorial service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Prince Hall, 3678 Prince Hall Dr., Marion, IN. Repass will immediately follow.
