Obituary
Jerry Bruno, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at JFK Medical Center in
Edison, New Jersey. He was 82.
Born on December 4, 1943, in Jersey City, Jerry was the son of the late Frank and Helen Bruno. Jersey City was where he grew up, received his education, and laid the foundation for the life he would go on to build. He remained deeply connected to the values he learned there throughout his life.
Jerry was a proud graduate of Saint Peter's University (formerly the College of Saint Peter's), earning his bachelor's degree in accounting.
In 1964, he joined the Army National Guard and served faithfully until 1970. During a time of significant unrest, Jerry was deployed locally and was among those who helped restore order during the Newark race riots of the late 1960s-an experience that reflected his steady character and sense of duty.
Following his military service, Jerry began his professional career as an accountant at a private firm. Eventually, he and a colleague took a chance and founded their own firm, PC Associates, in Jersey City. Jerry devoted many years to his work, earning the respect and trust of his clients through integrity, consistency, and dedication.
He continued steadily working until his retirement at the age of 78, taking pride not only in his profession but in the relationships he built along the way.
As life progressed, Jerry and his family made their home in several communities that became important chapters of his life. After growing up in Jersey City, he spent 18 years living in Clark, followed by another 18 years in Scotch Plains In more recent years, Jerry resided in Martinsville, New Jersey, where he continued to enjoy a quieter pace of life surrounded by family and friends.
Outside of work, Jerry embraced life's pleasures. One of his greatest passions was golf, and he loved any opportunity to get out on the course. He was a longtime member of Jumping Brook Country Club in Neptune, New Jersey, where he enjoyed both the game and the camaraderie it brought. Summers were especially meaningful to him, often spent at the family's Spring Lake beach house, taking long walks along the boardwalk and soaking in the calm of the shore.
Jerry was also an avid reader and a devoted fan of Frank Sinatra, whose music often filled his home and reflected his appreciation for timeless classics.
Above all else, Jerry treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved most. He was a constant presence in the lives of his grandchildren, attending their activities, celebrating their accomplishments, and taking genuine interest in their daily lives. His love, support, and steady guidance left a lasting impression on all of them.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Janet Bruno; his daughters, Karen Polizzi and her husband Michael, and Jennifer Armao and her husband Michael; and his six cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Amanda, Kyra, Michael, Lorenzo, and Julianna.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church.
Jerry Bruno lived a life defined by his devotion to family, and an appreciation for both hard work and life's simple joys. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
