Obituary published on Legacy.com by Calhoun - Mania Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Gerard George Garner, 71, passed away peacefully on Jan 28th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 16th, 1954, in Jersey City. Gerard was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and loving wife Kerri who passed away in 2019, a loving father to his 5 children, Juliann and her husband Joseph, Jeralyn and her husband Michael, Gerard and his partner Danny, John, and Kelli and her husband Christopher. He was a proud grandfather to Michael, Joseph, Chase, Vienna, Noah and Ellianna. Gerard is leaving behind his siblings Michael, Robert, Maureen, Lorraine, Timothy, and Patrick. He was predeceased by his sisters Geraldine and Mary and his brother George; his mother Geraldine and father Michael.

Despite facing numerous challenges, Gerard never waivered in his love for his family or his commitment to living life fully. He enjoyed being with his wife and children and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a passionate Giants fan who enjoyed a good BBQ, firepits and great music. Gerard loved spending time at the lake house, out on the boat with a cold Budweiser. Widely referred to by his numerous nieces, nephews and friends as Cheesehead, Chet, Jerry, Geraldo, and Papa G. A trade of many who always carried a bandana and pocket Swiss army knife. Gerard was full of love, laughter, and memories that will live on with all his loved ones forever.

Family will receive friends for visiting on Friday January 30th, 2026, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. Private Cremation.
