Anna Garner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Geitner-Givnish Funeral Home on Feb. 4, 2026.
My Mother went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 26, 2026. Anna was born May 28, 1943, to Howard and Mary Garner in Philadelphia, PA. She attended Gratz High School. She was married to Darnell Lewis; they raised two children, Darlene and Darnell Jr. (Bubby).

She grew up in church but later gave and dedicated her life to Jesus. She was known to many as Mom Anna. She was the Mother of the church at the House of Prayer, "Where the Holy Spirit Leads and We Follow." She was a prayer warrior, always praying for her grandkids, family, church family, friends, and others, even her enemies and anything she saw on television that was unjust. She would say, "I'm praying about that, and God will take care of it." AMEN

She loved her childhood memories. She would talk around us about how she grew up and was reared up in the house with her siblings, father, mother, and friends.

She was a caretaker up to a few weeks ago; she often visited her relatives by bus, making sure they had what they needed, whether it was shopping, cleaning the house, or companionship. My mom was a clean woman. She would get up early in the morning to make sure everything was tidy and clean before going out. And if she came to our house, she would find something to pick up or to do. Even her kitchen cabinets were filled with cleaning products from front to back! Her grandchildren would always joke with her, saying, "Mom Mom, you should have your own cleaning business!" She said Yes! Her slogan was to us, "You don't have to Fuss, just let Anna clean up your Dust! Even in her last days, being in the hospital, she told the doctors, "I don't need a private nurse. I can wash myself up and clean my own room as I do at home, I'm not that sick!" She was also awarded one of the Cleanest Apartments for 5 years while living independently at her Senior Building. That's Anna, Mrs. CLEAN! She was a shopper. You would find her on Germantown Ave or on the bus coming back from the stores with plenty of food, water, and her cleaning supplies.

She worked at Einstein Hospital for 29 years as a dietitian before retiring. She was for the patients. My Mom would come home and talk for hours about ways to make life better for them. She felt their pain and struggles. The patients loved her. They would speak to the nurses about how they loved Ann and Ann's coffee. She was known on each floor as the "Girl who makes the best coffee with smiles," and she still would never forget to clean up something if it was out of place in their room.

Look at God, Family, a full circle God. My Mom served at Albert Einstein Hospital for 29 years, and God, in His merciful grace, allowed Einstein to serve her in her last days here.

We love her and will miss her but we know Jesus loves her above ALL. So our souls are rested because we know she is in the arms of her Beloves and we know she's saying AMEN, AMEN, AMEN to Jesus! She made it Home!
