Gerard James Poyer

Gerard James Poyer, age 69, of St. Charles, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Gerard was born on February 26, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Thomas Poyer and Rita (Lamere) Poyer. 

Gerard graduated from Arthur Hill High School, where he laid the foundation for a future marked by hard work. He dedicated over 30 years of his life to General Motors, where he earned a reputation as a hardworking and dependable employee. He was an avid enthusiast in many areas. Gerard had a profound love for music, and he enjoyed attending concerts, with a particular fondness for legendary bands such as Fleetwood Mac and Bob Seger. His passion for music was matched only by his love for automobiles, especially his cherished Harley Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his yard. 

Gerard was united in marriage with Catherine (Clauss) Poyer on September 14, 1973. Catherine preceded him in death on March 27, 2023. 

Gerard is survived by two children, Jennifer and George Gear, and Matthew and Tara Poyer; seven grandchildren, Robert and Shannon, Chelsea and Troy, Dusten, Carter, Kaylee, Kelsey, and Bohdan; two great grandchildren, Finley and Archer; one brother, Thomas and Sue Poyer, and one sister, Kathy Cox; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Clauss) Poyer; his parents, Thomas Poyer and Rita (Lamere) Poyer; and a brother, John Poyer.

Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Fr.
