Gerry was born in Baltimore Maryland on Christmas Eve December 24, 1947. Gerry passed on Friday February 6, 2026 in Port Orchard Washington. He was proceeded in death by his mother Helen L. Zmijewski (1911-1989), father Walter V. Zmijewski (1912–1949), and his two brothers Kenneth W. Zmijewski (1941–1990) and Ronald J. Zmijewski (1938-2021), and sister-in-law Mercedes (Mercy) Zmijewski (1932-2001).

Gerry is survived by his niece Jacqueline M. Jordan (Zmijewski) and her husband Clifford D. Jordan of Bremerton, and their daughter Sarah Rosario and son in law Ramon Rosario and their grandchildren Caleb Jordan, Isabelle Rosario and Penelope Rosario and their great-grandson Weston Jordan; and his nephew Ronald W. Zmijewski and his wife Kristi J. Lee-Zmijewski of Gig Harbor and their daughter Alicia M. Zmijewski of Tacoma and their two sons Corey E. Colbo and Cameron L. Colbo of Seattle, Washington.

Gerry and his brothers attended Calvert Hall College High School, a Catholic preparatory school for boys in Towson Maryland, graduating in 1965. Those prep years had a profound impact on him and his brothers. Each was well read and articulate. The three brothers served in the United States Air Force (USAF) during the height of the Vietnam War. Gerry served as a Medic. This experience undoubtedly led him to become a Radiologic Technician, graduating from the Community College of Baltimore County – Essex Campus in 1972. He retired as an “X-Ray” Tech from the Doctors Clinic in Bremerton in 2014 at the age of 67.

Gerry was a good son, brother and uncle. He was known for his sense of humor and caring. He is fondly remembered for being playful and young at heart. He had a wide range of interests: from science to economics to photography and music - with a great love of Pink Floyd and the Boston Bruins. As a native son of Baltimore he was an avid Orioles, Colts and later Ravens fan. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Towson University in 1988. He enjoyed U.S. coin and foreign currency collecting. In his early life he enjoyed traveling. After graduating from college, a group of friends borrowed a mother’s station wagon and circumnavigated the United States and Canada in the fall of 1972. He later traveled to Spain and Egypt and always found time to visit relatives every year. In August of 2000 Gerry moved from Baltimore to Port Orchard to share a home with his brother Ron and sister-in-law Mercy until his passing.
