Gerardo A. Sanchez

Gerardo Anibal Sanchez, age 89, of Dover, New Jersey, passed away on December 12, 2025.

Gerardo was born on October 16, 1936, in Jardín, Antioquia, Colombia, to Félix Sánchez and Pastora Marín. In Colombia, he worked as a shoemaker before immigrating to the United States in 1993. He settled in Dover, New Jersey, where he worked as a butcher at Pre-Unic Supermarket.

Gerardo enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-playing the lottery every day, taking long walks, and spending time working in the garden. In his later years, his greatest joy was time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Gerardo is survived by his beloved wife, Rosa M Sanchez; his daughters, Edilma Acevedo (husband Raymond Acevedo), Nancy Garcia, Luz M Sanchez (husband Junior Carrero), and Maria Cristina Sanchez (husband Daniel Ferrante); his grandchildren, Anthony Varela, Melissa Acevedo Colón (husband George H. Colón), Cynthia Varela Hullings (husband Matthew Hullings), Isabel Acevedo, Samantha Partyka (husband Kyle Partyka), Bryan Carrero, Daniel Garcia and Lucas Sanchez; and his great-grandchildren, Gianluca I. Colón and Anabelle R. Hullings. He is also survived by siblings, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A mass will be held on December 18, 2025 at 5:30 PM at St Clement Church, Rockaway, NJ.

Gerardo Aníbal Sánchez, de 89 años, residente de Dover, Nueva Jersey, falleció el 12 de diciembre de 2025.

Gerardo nació el 16 de octubre de 1936 en Jardín, Antioquia, Colombia, hijo de Félix Sánchez y Pastora Marín. En Colombia trabajó como zapatero antes de emigrar a los Estados Unidos en 1993. Se estableció en Dover, Nueva Jersey, donde trabajó como carnicero en el supermercado Pre-Unic.

Gerardo disfrutaba de los placeres sencillos de la vida: jugar a la lotería todos los días, dar largas caminatas y dedicar tiempo a la jardinería. En sus últimos años, su mayor alegría fue compartir tiempo con su esposa, hijos, nietos y bisnietos a quienes amó profundamente.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Rosa M. Sánchez; sus hijas, Edilma Acevedo (esposo Raymond Acevedo), Nancy García, Luz M. Sánchez (esposo Junior Carrero) y María Cristina Sánchez (esposo Daniel Ferrante); sus nietos, Anthony Varela, Melissa Acevedo Colón (esposo George H. Colón), Cynthia Varela Hullings (esposo Matthew Hullings), Isabel Acevedo, Samantha Partyka (esposo Kyle Partyka), Bryan Carrero, Daniel García y Lucas Sánchez; y sus bisnietos, Gianluca I. Colón y Anabelle R. Hullings. También le sobreviven hermanos, cuñadas, sobrinas, sobrinos y otros familiares.

Se celebrará una misa el 18 de diciembre de 2025 a las 5:30 pm. en la Iglesia St. Clement, en Rockaway, Nueva Jersey.
