Mr. Gerld Dean Mathis, age 76, of Kansas Oklahoma, departed this life on Friday, September 12, 2025 in the comforts of his home. He was born on May 2, 1949 to Basil Mathis and Lena Bell Kellogg-Mathis.

Gerld served in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War and learned the skills he used for 25 years as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic underground in the goldmines of California. Later in life he worked for MSHA traveling to inspect mines for safety. He also drove a bus for Wyandotte Schools. Gerld enjoyed hunting, fishing, 1/4 mile racing and mopar. Gerld will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Basil and Lena Mathis; and his grandson Erik Hannah.

Gerld is survived by his wife of 52 years, Terry Mathis of the home; his children Shawn Mathis of Jackpot, Nevada, Greg Mathis of Kansas, Oklahoma and Deanna Mathis of Kansas, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Jenna, Phil, Kenny, Ryan, Gavin, Alex, Abby, and Harlie; extended family and friends.

Gerld's family will be having a Private Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W Gray St., Jay, OK. 74346 with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
