Gerold Wayne Edwards

Gerold Wayne Edwards, 85, of Roodhouse passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at White Hall Nursing and Rehab. He was born, July 12, 1940, in Athensville, the son of Ernest L. and Helen L. Israel Edwards. He married, Shirley M. Conway, April 15, 1977, at Martin's Prairie Church and she preceded him in death Mar. 28, 2023. Surviving are children, Sheryl (Russ) Henderson of Havana, Hal (Malinda) Pollard of Roodhouse, Billy (Tina) Pollard of Jacksonville, Jody Pollard of White Hall, Debra (Rodney Roberts) McClintock of White Hall and Vince Edwards of Bloomington; 21 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and siblings, Donald (Barb) Edwards of Greenfield and Marge Hazelwood of Winchester. He was preceded in death by daughter, Bobbie Jo Gourley; son, Danny Pollard and sisters, Helen Barrow and Pat Hartle. Wayne owned and operated his own excavating business. In his later years, he began selling furniture from his home, which evolved into Edwards Furniture Store on the Roodhouse square in 1980. He later rented out the old IGA store for his additional sales and to run weekly auctions. Wayne served as a Roodhouse alderman for 8 years. A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Roodhouse with interment in Fernwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Fernwood Cemetery.
