Gerry Ann Huddleston Burke, our beloved mother and grandmother, age 92, passed away Monday evening, March 2, 2026, surrounded by her family at her home in
Pace, Florida.
Gerry was preceded in death by her mother Rhoda Victoria Dillard Phillips, her father Lester Roger Huddleston, stepfather Roy Harold Phillips, her sister and brother-in-law Wanda and Ted Romine.
Gerry was born in Ardmore Oklahoma, August 13, 1933. Her family later moved to Savannah Georgia. She then moved to Tallahassee Florida where she raised her four children, Jennifer, Don, Billy and Libby. Gerry was active in church all of her life, always involved in Bible studies and inviting her friends to join her and sharing her faith; she served on various committees in service to the church as well. Beyond church activities, Gerry was an artist and entrepreneur, opening The Lion's Paw Exchange in Tallahassee Florida, one of the first arts and crafts supply stores of its kind. The store was stocked with every kind of art supply, offered classes in crafting and painting as well as offering artisans an opportunity to consign their art for sale to the public. Later, Gerry moved to North Carolina where she continued her love for art by selling her various paintings and craft designs at regional art shows for many years.
In her 80's Gerry moved to the
Pensacola, Florida area to live near her daughter Libby and husband David, eventually living in their home until she passed away.
Gerry is survived by her four children: Elizabeth, "Libby" Sandberg (husband David), Don E. Morrow (wife Lynn), son William, "Billy", Morrow (wife Jill), daughter Jennifer Morrow Godwin (husband Stan); and her beautiful 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Gerry, in speaking to her family, said she had experienced a very full life. She was most grateful for her family, which she loved and cherished, and for her faith in Christ our Lord.
The family will hold a private gathering at a later date. Gerry gave generously and faithfully to St. Jude's Children's hospital for years. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, if anyone would like to honor Gerry, please do so with a gift in her honor to
St. Jude's.
