Interment will be in Edgemont Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 3pm-7pm at the funeral home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home-Anniston. Mr. Gerry Jerome Woods' earthly journey began on November 16, 1957, in Anniston, Alabama to the parentage of the late John Henry and Amanda Josephine Forbes Woods. Gerry received his formal education in the Anniston City School system. He was a 1976 graduate of Anniston High School. While attending Anniston High School, Gerry met the love of his life, Althea. This friendship quickly blossomed into a relationship filled with a lifetime of love. Gerry and Althea were joined in holy matrimony. To this union, they welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Darius, who was their pride and joy. Gerry promised to love and cherished Althea through sickness and in health. When her health failed, he took very good care of her until she went home to be with the Lord. Gerry was a retired employee of Union Foundry. Despite his larger-than-life presence, Gerry was also a devoted momma's boy at heart, always cherishing his family and the relationships he held dear. He was always the life of the party, never failing to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. Gerry was a sweet soul, full of life, and he never met a stranger. On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Gerry's journey on this earth came to an end as he departed this walk and reunited with his wife, Althea Woods and his father, John Henry Woods. His memory will forever be cherished by his son, Darius Woods of Anniston; his grandchildren, Shaliyah Solomon, Tristan Cunningham, and Toni Woods; his mother, Amanda Josephine Forbes of Anniston; his sisters, Melissa Woods, Karen Ball, Lisa Woods, and Portia Cunningham; his brother, Donald Ward; his uncle, Frank (Helen) Woods; his aunts, Lucille (Ulysses) Conley, Yvonne Forbes, and Valerie Forbes; his nieces and nephews, Krystal Ball, Christopher Ball, Lanette Woods, Shanice Woods, Tameria Woods, Michael Woods, Marcus Woods, Clayton Jones, Yavonne Allen, Ricky Allen, Tameka Preyer, Kenneth Cunningham, Jr., and Justin Robinson; a host of other relatives and friends. Gone but never forgotten, Gerry Jerome Woods will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his kind heart, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. S.M.
