His Legacy Gert Hans Aufschlager, 80, peacefully passed away on March 8, 2024. He was born on February 5, 1944, in Leipzig, Germany to Hans Aufschlager and Lieselotte Hedwig (Martin) Aufschlager. Gert married the love of his life, Kathleen Tulppo, on August 21, 1966, in Detroit, MI. Gert was a proud Army veteran serving from July 1, 1963 – June 24, 1966, while also taking part in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed the outdoors, including his many hunting and fishing trips with family and friends, and enjoyed traveling, having had the opportunity to explore various destinations, including Hawaii, Alaska, and other locals throughout the United States and Canada. Gert possessed exceptional skills as a bowler, marksman, and mechanic. He found solace in catching fish, hunting whitetails, and spending quality time with his beloved family and friends. He was a former member of the Masonic Temple in Pinckney, MI, and enjoyed the many events the Masons participated in over the years. Gert's kind nature, love, and fairness toward others endeared him to all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt.
His Family He is survived by his sons, Greg (Susanne "Suzy") Aufschlager and Jeff Aufschlager, his cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Olivia, and Jacob, his brothers and sisters-in-laws Rob and Debbie Wohlfarth (niece Nickki & nephew Jason) and Frank and Sue Wohlfarth (nieces Petra - Godchild & McKenzie). Gert is preceded in death by his parents, Hans Aufschlager, Lieselotte Wohlfarth, and his stepfather, Armen Wohlfarth.
His Farewell A Community Farewell will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00AM (10AM gathering),at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Pastor Dan Quagliata will serve as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
