Gertrude (Trudy) Barnes, 82, of Loveland, passed away on January 5, 2009. She was born on October 11, 1926 in Breckenridge, Colorado to Charles P. and Mary Nelson Hiltz. She graduated from Delta High School in Delta, CO in 1945. She worked at Safeway for 23 years. She married Walter Barnes in 1970. After Walt and Trudy retired they spent winters in Apache Junction, AZ and summers in Colorado. After Walt passed away, Trudy dedicated her life to taking care of her mother Mary and friend Betty Bradley and to helping others in any way she could. She was an excellent cook and was always making pecan rolls, pies and bread for friends and family. Trudy was preceded in death by her father Charles Hiltz, mother Mary W. McDougall, step-father Thomas McDougall, husband Walt Barnes, sister Mary E. Turner, brother Charles "Tom" McDougall and nephew Larry W. Turner. She is survived by her sister Jo (Ray) Huffaker, sister- in-law Mary C. McDougall, brother-in-law Clyde E. Turner, brother-in-law Leo (Janet) Barnes of Wisconsin, nieces Raelena (Larry) Tonsing and Claudia (Lloyd) Connour, nephews Kevin McDougall, Joe D.(Leesa) Huffaker, Ray E.(Dawn) Huffaker Jr. "Slug" and Richard McDougall, 6 great nieces, 8 great nephews and numerous cousins. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Colorado Wildlife Heritage Foundation, P O. Box 211512, Denver, CO 80221. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 9 at Allnutt Hunter Chapel. Inurnment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

TRUDY WAS A LOVELY LADY. SHE WAS A NEIGHBOR TO MY SISTER HARRIETT MCMILLEN. WE WOULD VISIT MY SISTER AND HER HUSBAND LARRY AND FAMILY AND WE WOULD ALWAYS HAVE A VISIT WITH TRUDY AND HER HUSBAND. EVEN WHEN MY SISTER MOVED TO ANOTHER PART OF LOVELAND WE ENJOYED CORRESPONDING AT CHRISTMAS. SHE WAS A GOOD FRIEND TO MY SISTER AND FAMILY. SHE WILL BE MISSED BUT NOW SHE IS AT REST.
