Gertrude Boettcher, born November 11, 1934 passed away peacefully on October 23,2025 at Edgewood Country Retreat AFH. She was born in Paris, Bessarabia (Romania) to parents Reinhold and Emma Franz. Gertrude lived a happy life and had fond memories of playing with cousins and friends. Play was sometimes interrupted by her mom yelling loudly "Trudy" knowing she was in trouble, again! Normal life was interrupted by World War II and around 1940 the family packed up what they could carry and began an arduous journey West, with stops in Poland and cities in Germany. Living accommodations were provided by the generosity of others. Coming to "America" the land of opportunity, offered a fresh start. She met her husband Gerhard in 1952 and started her new life in Puyallup. Gertrude had many talents and occupations, with hard work and determination at the core of them all. She loved her family dearly. Family meant the world to her. She was generous with her time and gifts, hosting events, parties and volunteering at her church. She enjoyed baking, loved planting annual flowers in the Spring (a new beginning), making creative flower arrangements, gardening and traveling. She took pride in her appearance and was blessed with beautiful hair and a quick and easy smile. She is survived by her son Gunther Boettcher (Barbara) grandchildren (Karl and David). Son Siegfried Boettcher (Linda) grandchildren (Eric and Heidi). She has 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Reinhold and Emma Franz (Frieske), her husband Gerhard and son Laurence.

A celebration of life will be held at Valley View Christian Fellowship Church, 3735 Waller Rd. E, Tacoma 98433 on November 4 at 10:30 AM. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall with graveside services at 1:00 PM at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup. (South of Fairgrounds). Thank you, Edgewood Country Retreat for your loving and kind care!
