My earliest and fondest memories of Aunt Gert were of piercing, blue discerning eyes, her possessing a sharp wit, and being a proud energetic mother of five. I was amazed by the discovery of how many floors, staircases (going up and up), bedrooms, and children she had in her home on a first visit. I remember bonding with her youngest daughter, Renee, who introduced me to the tastiest, thin slice pizza for a quarter near Lakeview Ave. I admired that Aunt Gert singularly ran a tight ship with a stern kindness, looked out for all of her kids and encouraged them to seek happiness whether close by or across the continent. She had a great, long, adventurous life enjoying her children, grands, and her travels with close knit brother, Uncle Bob, and sister-in-law, Aunt Marian. May her lively memories, laughter, and her love given be cherished and live on in her family´s hearts.
OXXO, Roxanne

My dear Aunt Gert, my God-mother, may you rest in peace. Thank you for the memories, the gift of family, your enormous legacy. Some of my fondest memories were as of a child visiting Rockville Centre and the "big house;" visits filled with laughs, excitement, wonder, and interaction with family. Thank you for your encouraging words, support, guidance, and love over all of these years. We will all miss your good heart, your wisdom, your strength, your example. Just a few years ago at your 90th Birthday Party Celebration, the presence of so many and outpouring of love truly reflected your ever-lasting impact on us all. Suzanne, Debra, Michelle, Paul, and Dad/Mom, we mourn Aunt Gert's loss, yet we celebrate a life so well-lived and how she touched us all so mightily. Well done, Aunt Gert, His good and faithful servant. Peace and Love, ~ Troy
