Gertrude S. Murphy

Gertrude S. Murphy of Jamison passed peacefully on November 7, 2025 at Neshaminy Manor Home in Warrington. She was 88.

Born in Philadelphia on February 5, 1937, she was the beloved wife of the late Eugene A Murphy, Jr, and the daughter of the late William and Elsie Coyne Sheehan. She was also predeceased by her siblings; Mary Ragsdale, John Sheehan, Elsie Marquez and Patricia Wyszynski.

Gertrude was a true Philadelphian at heart embracing all that her Center City upbringing offered. She attended business school and worked as a Secretary before taking on the role of a loving mother dedicated to raising her children. Following the untimely passing of her husband she resumed her secretarial work for the Defense Department at the Naval Supply Depot, retiring in 1999.

She was an active member of St. Martin of Tours Parish where she could often be found praying the Rosary and saying Novenas with her "girlfriend", the Blessed Mother.

She was a former communicant of St. Cyril of Jerusalem Parish in Jamison before moving to Neshaminy Manor Home.

Gertrude was an active member of the Doylestown YMCA, where you could find her in the pool with her "Mermaids" doing water aerobics.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and the theater with her sister-in-law Elaine Sheehan.

She will be sadly missed for her ability to always see the bright side, a famously warm and infectious laugh and her faith filled eternal optimism.

Gertrude is survived by her children; Colleen Craig and her husband Bob, Maryanne Arrow and her husband Joe, Eugene A. Murphy, III and his wife Karyn, John Murphy, William Murphy and his wife Amy.

Gertrude was a doting and proud Mom Mom to her 13 grandchildren; Letitia

Strupczewski and her husband Leo, Shannon DeGeorge and her husband Brian, Laura Murphy and her fiancé Bill, Eugene Murphy IV and his wife Jacqueline, Joseph Arrow and his wife Lindsay, Bridget Arrow, Bow Arrow and his wife Tara, Colin Murphy, Meghan Murphy, Emily Frankenfield and her husband Randall, Juliet Murphy, Chloe Murphy and Margaret Murphy. As well as her 8 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly; Charlie and Peter Strupczewski, Willow and Keira DeGeorge, Keegan and Brody Murphy, Killian Murphy and Amelia Frankenfield.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet her family on Monday November 24, 2025 at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Rd., Jamison,PA from 10 am until her Funeral Mass at 11 am. Interment will be private.

Contributions in her memory to the Miraculous Medal Shrine 475 East Chelten Ave. Phila PA. 19444 would be appreciated.
