Born in Switzerland, hometown of Wil-St.Gallen. Attended grade school for six years, high school for three years and Trade School for three years in St. Gallen. Studied to be a beautician working for several years in Frauenfeld Switzerland. Immigrated to the United States in 1947. Married Gustave C. Gilg, raised four children, Chris (Felicia) Gilg; Ronald (JoMarie) Gilg; Rosemarie Winquist and Norman (Tammarie) Gilg. Moved to Puerto Rico in 1959, living there for 13 years, then moving to Rockford Il. in 1972. Worked at J.C. Penney’s for 15 years. Enjoyed gardening, crafts, traveling, reading and getting together with family and friends.
Survived by her children, three grandchildren; Travis (Samwise) Winquist; Margaret (Jeffrey) DeWitt; Katelyn Gilg and three great- grandchildren; Jared, Remy, Samuel.
Private graveside services will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Winnebago, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to be made to Hope For Haitians, P.O. Box 5647, Rockford, Illinois 61105
