Gervis Manning Fowler, Jr. left us on December 10, 2022 due to complications of various health issues. He was born in Catoosa County and never left since the time of his birth on December 20, 1939. He was soon to be 83 years of age.
His loving parents, Gervis Manning Fowler, Sr. and Nellie Mae Bolden Fowler taught him love and respect. Gervis was fortunate to come from a large family with one sister, Junelle Lewis, of Ringgold, and two brothers, Jim Fowler of Ringgold, and Wayne Fowler of Naples, Florida.
For all who knew him, Gervis was a country gentleman and a man of his word. He enjoyed the simple life whether catching a fish, looking at pictures of his great-grandchildren, or telling stories about mama. He was adored by his family and would be quick to say that they were his most valuable asset.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a 60 year member of the Quitman Lodge.
Gervis attended the close-knit group of Ringgold High School Class of '57 known as the "Wally's Lunch Bunch" where funny stories could be heard of which half were made up.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Judy Ball Fowler, one son, Alan (Tammi) Fowler of Harrison, TN, and one daughter, Tammy (Danny) Mathis of Ringgold; two granddaughters, Hannah (Daniel) Stoker and Rachel (Joey) Callahan of Ringgold, and five great-grandchildren, Roman Stoker, Gatlin Stoker and Gracelyn Stoker, Cora Callahan and Graham Callahan, his sister and brothers, 3 nieces and two nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Keith McLeod officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday. Condolences may be left at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by W.L.
