Giacomo Simone Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perinchief Chapels - Mount Holly on Oct. 9, 2022.
Giacomo "Jack" Vito Simone, of Eastampton, NJ, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022. He was 69.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 22, 1952, and raised in Brick, NJ, Jack was a member of the 1970 graduating class of Brick Township High School. After graduating, he volunteered to join the United States Army, going on to serve with distinction during the Vietnam Conflict, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. He eventually settled in the Ocean Acres section of Stafford, NJ, where he lived for forty years of his adult life. In 1985, he earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Ocean County College. He ultimately relocated to Burlington County, where he lived out his remaining days in the company of his cherished family.
Jack made his career in telecommunications, and was a member of IBEW Local 827. He retired from Verizon Communications in 2010 after thirty-seven years of service. Outside of work, Jack donated his time to an assortment of pursuits, including as a Cub Scout leader for Pack 65 in Manahawkin, NJ, as a treasurer and Sunday school teacher at Bayside Chapel in Barnegat, NJ, and as a youth soccer coach in the Stafford Township municipal league. His friends knew him as a self-taught authority on a wide range of subjects, including personal finance, physical fitness, stained glass artwork, and lawn and garden care. Some of his happiest moments came with the enjoyment of simple pleasures, such as a plate of Italian food, a glass of red wine, a conversation on politics or psychology, or a very corny joke. One of his greatest passions was music; he accumulated an impressive collection of vinyl LPs, and in his later years learned to play acoustic guitar. More than anything, however, Jack loved being a father and grandfather.
Jack is survived by his son, Steven J. Simone; his daughter, Laura E. Simone; his granddaughter, Winry M. Simone; his brother, Steven Simone; his former wife, Pam Simone; his nephews Eric Collins and Scott Collins; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Giacomo Simone; his mother, Dolores Brandt, nee Mohedano; and his stepfather, Delmar Brandt.
Jack was known by all for his deep and abiding love and kindness. He is dearly missed.
