Mary Meyer Obituary

Mary Ellen Meyer of Toms River, NJ passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 4, 2025. After spending the summer courageously fighting cancer, her passing came as a shock to all who loved her.
She was born at St Mary's Hospital in Hoboken, NJ and later moved to Brick, NJ where she grew up with her 2 sisters, 3 brothers, and devoted parents by her side. They were known as "The Meyers" a true staple in Brick Township. You could always find her running between her yard and the Tassillo's, galavanting around the streets of Lake Riviera with her first childhood friend, ToniAnn.
After graduating from Brick Township High School, she continued her education at Georgian Court University where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. Her love of learning led her to complete her master's degree, continue her education through her Law School program which she took so much pride in, and even "assisting" some of her favorite nieces and nephews in achieving their diplomas. Those that knew her best would often joke that she was a "professional student" - the most brilliant book-smart person they'd ever known.
She had a career in teaching, and got to continue that passion with teaching her buddy JT. She made sure to carve out plenty of time in their lesson plans for games and baking. Their time together each week was something she truly looked forward to and cherished, they just got each other.
In her present days when she wasn't studying, writing a paper, or teaching she could be found basing her entire schedule around any adventure her granddaughter Kylie thought up for them that day. A Starbucks, Dunkin, or Wawa run and a trip to Target and Walgreens were always in those plans.
She loved a good puzzle, a hitting slot machine, a People Magazine read, a Hallmark movie watch, ensuring that she never missed one season of Big Brother, and of course giving the best birthday/holiday cards always fully decorated with a collage of stickers.
She took such pride in every accomplishment her daughter and granddaughter made whether big or small she cheered for them the loudest.
To know her was to love her, she had this way of making everyone feel like they were her favorite- in that moment, you were the most important person in the world to her. She lit up every room she walked into with the warmth and kindness that radiated from her. She had one of the biggest hearts of anyone you will ever meet. If you needed something-anything-she was the first to offer. She would give you the shirt off her back without hesitation. That's just who she was: all heart, all in, always. Her friendly personality came through always with a story for everything and a chat with anyone who would listen, the world is too quiet now without her.
Predeceased by her loving parents Donald and Kathleen Meyer, her beautiful niece Erica Meyer "Erica Erica Little Miss America", and her furbaby Lola.
She leaves behind her pride and joy her only child Courtney "Coo", her son-in-law/Big Brother watching partner Tim, her brothers Stephen, Donald "Little Guy", Danny, her sisters Kimberly and Kate, sister-in-law Lori "Lana", brothers-in-law Arami and Jim, nephews Johnny, Donald, Stephen, DJ, James, Justin her nieces Katelyn, Lauren, Kendall, Amber, Kayla, Nicole, Julianna, and Olivia. Her many cousins such as Chrissy, Brigid, and Erin just to name a few, all her little sidekicks that called her "Mema", her furbabies Boomer and Oakley, and all the remaining family and friends that she loved dearly. But most of all her love and memory will live on and be cherished by her granddaughter Kylie, who was truly "her world".
