Giancarlo Podesta Obituary

Giancarlo Podesta, 76, of Attleboro, MA passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Laurie (Desmarais) Podesta.

Born July 25, 1948 Genoa, Italy he was the son of Anna (Lagomarsino) Podesta of Italy and the late Davide Podesta.

Giancarlo was raised and educated in Italy and had been a resident of Attleboro since 1977. He completed his schooling in Italy and attended hospitality school to work in restaurants.

At the age of 18 he served in the Italian Air Force. He also worked on the cruise ship Oceanic out of New York City where he met his wife. In Attleboro he was employed by the Stern-Leach Co., for 40 years.

In his early years, he was a member of the South Attleboro Lions Club with his father in law. Later, he joined the Elks Club and enjoyed playing cards and the Wednesday nights BBQ.

Through the years he truly loved to meet up with former colleagues from work to have dinner and mostly treasured the times spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Laurie and his mother Anna he is survived by his children, Michael Podesta (Olivia) of Attleboro, Francesca Podesta (Daniel Sequeira) of Pawtucket, RI and Cynthia Podesta of South Attleboro; his grandchildren, Alex, Giovanni and Penelope; his siblings, Maria Rosa Pinasco (Roberto), Bruno Podesta (Stefania), Ornella Perazzo (Domenico), Barbara Panetta (Maurizio) all of Italy; his brother in law, Mark O'Brien (Claire). As well as several nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Accent Care, Hope Hospice and Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Also the excellent team of doctors that provided exceptional care during this time will always be remembered.

Family invites family and friends of Giancarlo to his home at 23 Bellmore St., Attleboro, MA on May 31, 2025 between 12:00PM and 4:00PM to celebrated his life. In lieu of flowers hug your family and friends.
