Gidget Lorraine Mercer was born to Dorothy L. Mercer and Clarence J. Pierce III in Austin, Texas on August 1, 1971. She professed her life to Christ and became a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church under the auspices of Pastor A.W. Anthony Mays in Round Rock, Texas. She joined Olive Branch Fellowship of Austin under the auspices of Reverend Kenneth W. Hill, where she remained until her passing.
She attended the Austin Independent School District, but she later resided in El Paso, Texas where she received her General Education Diploma. She also attended and took classes at Austin Community College.
Gidget was a hard worker starting from her childhood on to adulthood. She began working at 7-11 where she quickly excelled and became the assistant manager and later retired.
She was a lover of all thing's music and electronics. Her many hobbies included fishing, spending quality time with her loved ones, and countless other things. Gidget absolutely cherished her children and grandchildren. There would never be a moment that went by that she wasn't glowing and bragging about her children's accomplishments.
Gidget was a forced to be reckoned with. To know her is to love her. She was a selfless person who always put others before her own needs, her laugh and smile were contagious and could light up a room, and her sense of humor was one of a kind. Gidget was such a light in the lives of everyone she encountered. She made sure that you felt loved, she made sure that you knew you were doing a great job. She always made sure you knew she was proud of you. The role she played was of many. She was often known as Gizmo, Nane, G.G., Fathead, Lucy, Gidgaire, Giz, but at the end of the day, whatever she was known as, her love was genuine and pure.
Gidget was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy L. Mercer and Clarence J. Pierce III, and her brother, James Michael Mercer.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Her daughters, Brittney N. Onyia and Ashley D. Hare, and bonus son Xade Z. Biscoe-Thompson. Her sisters, Brenda (Kenneth) Hill and Julia Mercer. Her companion, LaWanda Titus. Nieces and nephews, Ericka (Stacy) Hunt, Ronald Sauls Jr., Tiffany Sauls, Ebony (Quinton) Arnold, Dominique Sauls, Kristen (Michael) Bradshaw, and Chase Tisdale. Grandchildren, Anthony Hare Jr., Atreyu Hare, and Andrew Hare. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends.
