Gilbert Calderon Ayala, 70 of Kerrville passed from this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his residence.
Gilbert was born in Kerrville TX on February 18, 1952 to parents, Mike and Theresa Ayala. He grew up in Kerrville and during his childhood Gilbert enjoyed playing baseball and fishing. He often accompanied his father and grandfather to ranches to shear sheep. Prior to retiring Gilbert was a food service manager at Hilltop Nursing Home where he kept a watchful eye over the residents and their dietary needs. He was known to often make something special to eat for a resident.
He is preceded in death by his sister Alice Valdez, father-in-law Clarence Thomas and grandfathers, Macario Calderon and Santana Ayala.
He is survived by his wife Lori Ayala; children Melissa, James, Monica, Amy and Justin; grandchildren Jayden, Mariah, Anthony, Mikayla, Madison, Taylor, Maddux, Brayton and Christian; his parents Mike and Theresa Ayala; mother-in-law Donna Thomas; sisters Celia Castillo and husband Mingo, Amelia Carter and Nancy Constante; sister in law Wanda Hild and husband Jason Hild; brother in law Gary Thomas and wife Lisa Thomas, sister-in-law Cheryl and brother in-law Keith Armstrong, numerous nieces and nephews and favorite fur baby Chiquita.
Special thank you to Peterson Hospice and Pastor Roy and Lynette Waldrep and Pastor Joe Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway with Pastor Waldrep officiating the service.
Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kerrville Funeral Home (830) 895-5111.
