Gilbert Jerome Clark, known to us lovingly as Gilbert, was born on November 13, 1930, in Newton, North Carolina. He was a charismatic soul whose light shone brightly on those around him. His dedication to his family, friends, and students was admirable, and his inspiring spirit left a profound impact on all who had the privilege to know him. Gilbert passed away on December 25, 2025, in his residence in Glenarden, Maryland, where he had spent 40 beautiful years.

Gilbert was a pillar of strength and support in his community, demonstrating his commitment through his work as a teacher in DC Public Schools. His career spanned decades, during which he nurtured countless young minds, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. His unique teaching style, coupled with his supportive nature, made him a favorite among students. He was the kind of teacher who didn't just educate; he inspired, encouraged, and believed in his students. In the words of Henry Adams, "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." Gilbert embodied this sentiment, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Gilbert's love for his loved ones knew no bounds. He was a dedicated family man, cherishing his wife, Bobbie Clark, whom he married on December 24, 1990. His love for his children, David Clark and Tracey Bourke, was boundless, and he reveled in his role as a grandfather to Avery Bourke. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Clark and Worth Clark.
