Gilbert Garcia Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coker-Mathews Funeral Home on Dec. 9, 2025.
Gilbert Garcia, 60, of Commerce, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 in Plano, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Sleeper officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at the funeral home.

Gilbert was born on June 22, 1965 in Dallas, Texas to Joe Garcia and Gloria Del Angel. He married Maria Cristina Salazar on October 14, 1991 in Dallas, Texas. He worked for Hopkins Court Assisted Living in Sulphur Springs in the facilities department. Gilbert was a strong, hardworking, and deeply loving father who never missed a chance to make someone laugh. He taught his family the true meaning of unconditional love simply by the way he lived and loved. He was talented and artistic; he had a gift for seeing beauty in the most unexpected places.
He is survived by his wife Maria Cristina Garcia; children, Gilbert Garcia Jr., Jonathan Jordan Garcia, Marissa Denise Tippit, Patricia Lillian Garcia, and Marcus Ty Garcia; grandchildren, Ella Grace Garcia, Adeline Jane Garcia, and Whitten Salazar; siblings, Linda Landeros, Joe Garcia, Steven Garcia, and Ruben Garcia.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Del Angel.

Gilbert's legacy, his kindness, his humor, and his love, will live on forever.

Yesterday

I never met Gilbert in person, only spoke with him over the phone through my workplace. His light was so bright, I felt like I´d known him as a life long friend. He was always so very kind, thoughtful and uplifting. When you spoke to Gilbert, you felt genuinely blessed. I never once spoke to him that I did not feel very blessed that people like him walked this earth. He spread joy, kindness and love. I send my deepest condolences and prayers to his wife and entire family, to his friends which I know were many!!! God bless and keep you each and every one as you walk through the days ahead! What a joyous knowing that he is now in the presence of God and all of Heaven rejoices to have him home. God bless, protect and cover this family.
