Mr. Lloyd Gilbert James, age 77, of Bowman, Georgia, entered eternal rest on January 25, 2024.
Mr. Lloyd Gilbert James was born August 29, 1946, to the late Willie James and Maude Hill James. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gilbert Terrell James, and three brothers, Crayman Verdell James, Sr., Willie Joe James, and Robert Lee James and nephew Crayman James Verdell, Jr.
Early in life, Gilbert joined Hall Grove Baptist Church as a deacon and remained a faithful servant. He spoke often about returning to church someday and giving his testimony on what he went through. He never gave up on faith; no matter what he went through, he was always upbeat and treated people with respect. He was a loving man, a family man, an uncle, and a father to many of his nieces and nephews. Gilbert worked in the tile industry for 45 years with Dickerson Tile Company. He was not only able to lay tile, but he was also a man of many skills. Gilbert was loved by all he met. His children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews thought highly of him and will continue to cherish their time with him. Gilbert was a man who loved people, and people loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Shelby James, three children, and two stepchildren, Wesley (Theresa) James. Sebrena (Kelvin) Jenkins, both of Hartwell, Georgia, and Demetrius James of Bowman, Georgia, Andravian (Aisha) Fortson of Franklin, Virginia, and Chrishala Forston of Hartwell, Georgia. One sister, Sadie James of Grayson, Georgia. Three sisters–in–law: Doris James and Pearlie James of Bowman, Georgia, and Tawanna Forston of Hartwell, Georgia. A daughter–in–law, Lisa James. Three brothers-in-law, Rodney Fortson, Lawrence Fortson, and Frank Fortson, Jr. of Bowman, Georgia. Six grandchildren, Gerard Gaines, Dr. Brandon Hamm, Tanesha James, Jalisa Huff, Abrison Huff, and Terriaus James. 11 great-grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends..
Visitation will be at the home of his wife, Shelby James
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm. at Hall Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow the funeral service at Hall Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
