Bobby James Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service on Feb. 7, 2026.
Bobby Ray James, 63, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 5, 2026, knowing he was loved by his family. Born on June 18, 1962, Bobby was the son of the late Parris Ray James and Shirley Ann Jones James. He was raised with strong family values, a tireless work ethic, and faith that guided him throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Michael James.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of almost 37 years, Beverly McElroy James, his daughter Kayla Renee James, his Granddaughters Kylie Mae Israel, and Alanna Faye Messer. He is also survived by his brothers Mark James, Allen James (April), and a sister Lisa James; nephew Christopher James, nieces Ashley James, Samantha James, Kinzleigh James, and Jessica Palmer. He had many other extended family members and dear friends.

A proud graduate of Pisgah High School, class of 1981, Bobby spent his life providing for his family and serving others with kindness and integrity. He dedicated 26 years of hard work and loyalty to Crossroads Ford, previously Taylor Ford, in Waynesville, NC, where he built not only a career but lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. He took great pride in his work and retired with the respect and appreciation of everyone who knew him. Above all else, Bobby was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. His greatest joy in life was his family. He loved spending time with them, sharing stories and making memories that will be cherished forever. His two Grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and nothing made him smile more than being their "Papaw".

Bobby will be remembered for his steady presence, generous heart, strong hands, and unwavering love for those closest to him. His faith in the Lord gave him strength, and his life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and devotion to family. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing he is at peace and reunited with those who went before him. His legacy of love, strength and kindness will live on in all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 2:00pm. Revered Jerry Nelson will be officiating.
