Gilbert Christopher Llacuna Jr., age 63, passed away leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and unwavering dedication. Born in
San Francisco, California, Gil was raised in Concord, where he built deep roots in the community he would continue to serve throughout his life.
Gil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington in 1986. He went on to a highly successful career in the finance industry for 25 years, exemplifying hard work, perseverance, and integrity in everything he did.
A man of strong Christian faith, Gil was an Elder at Clayton Community Church. He was also actively involved in the Clayton Valley Match Club and dedicated many years to coaching track and field, cross country, and soccer, touching and inspiring countless lives through mentorship, encouragement, and example.
Above all else, Gil was the definition of a family man. He was married to his beloved wife, Shannan Kay Llacuna, for 34 years. Together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and passionate commitment. He was a devoted father to Ashley, her husband Andrew, Ky, and Gilbert Christopher Llacuna III; and a cherished son and brother to his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Christopher Llacuna Sr., and is survived by his mother, Vera Llacuna, and siblings Gina, Annette, Armando, and Maria.
Gil taught his family the value of hard work, resilience, and never giving up. When times were difficult, he believed the best remedy was always family time. He showed his love by consistently showing up, offering encouragement, wisdom, and lessons drawn from his own life experience. Known for his warmth, kindness, and inviting spirit, he had the ability to light up any room with his great booming laugh and infectious smile, memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
An accomplished bowler, Gil proudly bowled multiple perfect 300 games and would want that achievement to be remembered. An avid athlete, he remained committed to staying active throughout his life. His favorite pastimes included running, weightlifting, bowling, watching football, traveling the world with his wife and children, and, most importantly, being surrounded by his loved ones. He excelled in everything he did and as a devoted Raiders fan, he lived by their motto: "Just win, baby!"
