Gilbert Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Valley Funeral Home - Appleton on Feb. 24, 2026.
Gilbert "Gib" George Miller passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026. He was born on October 23, 1927 in Appleton, WI to the late George and Ethel (Rogers) Miller. He spent his entire life in Appleton and was proud to be a descendent of the Mayflower.
He graduated from Appleton Senior High School, class of '45. He enlisted in the Army Air Force and served in the 20th Air Force Communications at Harmon Field on Guam. After service, he trimmed trees and then was employed by Kurz & Root Co. for 39 years, spending the last 20 years as a purchasing agent. He was well known for his custom craft business, Miller Creek Crafts, which he developed with his wife Cissy. In this endeavor, he created replica wooden bear traps, fishing lures (four times actual size), and unique cribbage boards. With Gib's artistic ability, he created Gib Miller Fabric Printing, a part time business. From there, he and Tom Schiltz combined their talents and founded Valley Screenprint. After several years, Gib and his son formed Valley Screenprinting Service, still operating as Valley Screenprint Inc. He was a life member of the First Congregational Church. Gib was a colorful storyteller, sharing his life in a way that made you feel you were there with him.

Gib is survived by his children: Gregg (Debbie) Miller, Appleton; Jayne (David) Williams, Flagstaff; Nanette (Harrison) Rozelle, Appleton; and Gifford (Becky) Miller, Appleton. He is further survived by his stepchildren: Karla (Phillip) Dee, Houston; Becky (Mark) Piette, Rothschild; Don (Heidi) Van Ryzin, Appleton; Jason Van Ryzin (Laurie Esquivel), Menasha; as well as his sister-in-law's Barbara Miller, Madison and Pearl Kunz, Appleton, 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kristine Coffey, his wife of 44 years Cecilia Miller, his brother Marvin Miller, and the mother of his five children, Dorothy Gehring.
Please celebrate Gib's life by playing a game of cribbage or a round of golf, enjoying two pieces of dessert, getting up at 4:30 am and taking a refreshing noon nap, telling a good joke, or listening to a Brewers game on the radio. Special thanks to everyone at Dimensions Living and St. Croix hospice that lovingly guided his final year of life.

A private family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Old Glory Honor Flight will be made.

Yesterday

Dad, I miss you so much! I told him before he passes: " You are a funny little old man." And his last words were: "not old"
