Mr. Gilbert Reyes Jr., age 42, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Friday February 6, 2026, at his residence. He was born October 16, 1983, in Weslaco, Texas, to Gilbert Reyes, Sr. and the late Yolanda De La Rosa. Mr. Reyes was a loving husband, proud father, a devoted son, brother and uncle. He was a loyal member of the Dobson Fire Department, where he was voted Fireman of the Year in 2025, part of all the firefighting community of Surry County. Gilbert was an accomplished chef and foodie. He loved spending time coaching football, mentoring, and encouraging children. His interests included hunting, fishing, camping, and any outdoor activities. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and friendship by all that knew him.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Amanda Reyes; his wonderful children, Ellianna Reyes, Kierstan Crouse, and Davin Crouse; his father, Gilbert Reyes Sr., and Angela O’Neal; his siblings, Jason Santos, Skye Ellen Musson, Randy Reyes, Vanessa Reyes, and Nohemi Adrianna Alvarez; nieces and nephews, Arabella Chantelle, Jackson Xander Lee, Sophia Reyes, Raiden Jasper, Giovanni Lee, Degen Nowlin, Raylen Nowlin, and Charlie Valle; sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Ben Valle; and a brother-in-law, Jeremy Nowlin.
There will be a Celebration of Gilbert’s life held Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 10:00 am- 2:00 pm, at The Barn at Heritage Farm, 152 Heritage Farm Lane, Dobson, NC 27017. All are encouraged to come spend time with his family and share good memories and stories with them. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Reyes family.
