Gilbert L. Squire

Gilbert L. Squire, 93, of LaGrange, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Gilbert was born on March 24, 1932, in Elyria, to Lester A. and Mildred M. (nee Kline) Squire.

Gilbert graduated from Elyria High School, afterward he served in the US Army from 1955-1957. He was a lifelong farmer, then after retiring from farming, he took up over the road truck driving and for the Chronicle-Telegram.

Gilbert enjoyed his time as a 4-H advisor and always looked forward to the Lorain County Fair every year. He was a faithful member of the LaGrange Global Methodist Church, LaGrange.

Surviving members of Gilbert's family include children Diane (Jerry) Brietkrenz, Jay (Michele) Squire and Steven Squire; grandchildren Joanne (Chris) Phillips, Jon (Alyssa) Brietkrenz, Cordellia Squire, and Adam (Katelyn) Brietkrenz; and great grandchildren Aiden, Dominick, Carygan, Jayce, Damion, Amy, Clayton and Joslyn.

Preceded in death by his wife, Janet, parents Lester and Mildred Squire, brothers Gerald and Earl Squire, granddaughter Claudia, and daughter in law Tamatha Squire.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gilbert's name to LaGrange Global Methodist Church, 105 W. Main St., LaGrange, OH 44050.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 1pm at the LaGrange Global Methodist Church, 105 W. Main St., LaGrange.

Private burial at the Henrietta Methodist Cemetery, Amherst Township.
