Gilberte C. Myers, 93, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on July 17, 2025, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT after a short illness.

She was born on April 3, 1932, in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Caron and Florence (Juneau) Caron, the third of eight children. She was married to Archie C. Myers in Montreal, Quebec on February 23, 1963; they spent 39 blessed years together, until his death on March 8, 2002.

Gilberte was a wife, mother and homemaker for most of her life, constantly giving happily of herself. Even in her early teens in convent boarding school, she was helping take care of her very young sisters, making sure they were dressed in time for class. She worked at her parents' hotel for some time in housekeeping, in the kitchen, and in hospitality, wherever she was needed. After she was married, she welcomed visitors often and graciously, ready to make them comfortable, and offering them a meal or her homemade desserts. She enjoyed baking and also spent many happy hours working on her flower beds around the house. But raising her two children, and all its challenges, was her strong point. She taught with firmness but gentleness, and was always supportive of them in their various activities, teaching them by example. Later on, she loved having the opportunity to take care of some of her grandchildren. Active at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, she was a religious education aide when her children were in school; she later served as a funeral lunch helper and was a member of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima. She was an example of gentleness and humility, never drawing attention to herself. Hers was a life rooted in her Faith and filled with joy. In her last two-and-a-half years, she lived at the Gazebo assisted living facility, where she loved receiving visits from family and friends, and as expected, offering chocolates to her visitors.

Gilberte is survived by her two children, Anne-Marie Cote and her husband, Dennis, of Littleton, NH, and Allen Myers and his wife, Sue, of South Burlington, VT; thirteen grandchildren, Chelsea Myers (Ben Edmonds), Marybeth Mahoney (Brian), Lindsay Myers (Doren Hughes), Matthew Cote, Grace Cote, Colby Gay, Stephen Cote, Jillian Myers (Caleb Martin), Joanna Cote, and Archie's grandchildren from his previous marriage, who Gilberte loved as her own, David St. Hilaire (Renee), Judith St. Hilaire (P.J. LaPorte), Joseph St. Hilaire (Kim), and Denise Flinchum (Brian). Her great-grandchildren include Lily, Hudson, Katie and Avery, as well as Danielle, Rebecca, Michael, Rochelle, Kiersten, Amanda, Travis, Colton and Bryce.

She is also survived by her sisters, Francoise Poulin and Monique Caron of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and her brother Gilles Caron of Montreal, Quebec, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Archie, Gilberte was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Helene Caron, Lucie Donvil, Henriette Rouleau, and her infant brother Lucien Caron, all of the province of Quebec, Canada.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington, VT. Interment will follow in New Mount Calvary Cemetery in Burlington. There will be no visiting hours the evening before, per Gilberte's request. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Anne's Shrine, P.O. Box 280, Isle La Motte, VT 05463.
