Gilberto Alvarado, Sr., 72, of Brownfield passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, . He was born on August 22, 1953, in Mexico to Lazaro and Martha (Ponce) Alvarado. Gilberto was a farmer, and loved gardening, and raising his chickens. He also enjoyed watching the Spanish news while enjoying a cup of coffee and sweet bread, he also enjoyed scratching of the lottery tickets in hope to be a big winner someday. Gilberto loved his wife to the heavens and back, and treated her like she was all that mattered, his family was very important to him also. He was a loving, so, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, he will be missed by anyone that knew him.
Those left to cherish his loving memory are his daughters, Amy Viernes, Alice, Viernes, Laurie Viernes, and Selena Viernes; sons, Chris Viernes, Jeronimo Viernes, Jr., Pete Viernes, Gilberto Alvarado, Jr., and Jose Alvarado; siblings Lalo Alvarado, and wife Olivia and Isabel Alvarado and husband Raymundo Rubio and his loving furbaby, Peanut.
Gilberto was preceded in death by his parents, Lazaro and Martha Alvarado, his wife, Yolanda Anaya, his son, Jo Louis Viernes, daughter Christina Ayala, and his best friend, Juan Guadalupe Miranda Rocha.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel, 1211 Lubbock Rd, Brownfield, Texas 79316. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel, 1211 Lubbock Rd, Brownfield, Tx 79316. Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home.
