Ginger Hertz

Virginia "Ginger" (Schrank) Hertz passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, at her home in Rapid City, SD. The family would like to extend an invitation to join in a celebration of Ginger's life on Friday, October 17, and visit with the family anytime from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, 821 Main St., Armour, SD. Lunch will follow at the Blue Moon Bar and Grill, 708 2nd St. Armour, SD.
Ginger was born November 20, 1955 to Don and Edna Schrank in Parkston, SD. She joined her brother, Rodney, and was soon joined by brothers Mick and Donald and a sister, Rennie, where the family lived on a farm near Corsica, SD. Ginger graduated from Corsica High School in 1974 and soon after married Dan Hertz of Armour, SD on September 13, 1975. The young couple enjoyed motorcycle trips, fishing and camping. They lived in Menno, SD and later moved to Armour, SD where son, Jesse, and daughter, Terri were born. Ginger was smart and ambitious and soon returned to college to get her degree in accounting. She opened her own accounting and tax preparation business in Armour, SD, which she operated until 2020. She loved her work a great deal and considered her clients family. Ginger adored her children and grandchildren and when she was able, moved to Rapid City, SD to be near them. She proudly hung her granddaughter's artwork and accomplishments on her wall and enjoyed attending their numerous events.
Ginger was preceded in death by her father Don and brother Rod. She is survived by mother, Edna Schrank of Mitchell, SD, husband Dan Hertz of Hill City, SD, son Jesse (Melissa) Hertz of Rapid City, SD, daughter Terri (David) Fields of Hill City, SD, granddaughters Sophia, Lennon, and Elizabeth, siblings Mick (Jodi) Schrank of Corsica, SD, Donald (Gina) Schrank of Gillette, WY, and Rennie (Marty) Deboer of Mitchell, SD.
She will be missed by those who knew and loved her and has inspired us all with her unmatched selflessness, determination and grit to overcome challenges and face life head on.
