Ginny York Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 26, 2018.
Virgina "Ginny" Kay York, age 78, of Port St Lucie, Florida passed away on Sunday February 25, 2018.

Ginny was born January 10, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Frederick and Margarite Martin nee Sheets. She has been a resident on and off of Port St. Lucie since 1973, when she moved from South Bend. In 1997 she and her husband, Tom moved to Tennessee, before coming to Florida as a snow bird again in 2010.

Ginny held a clerical position with Bendix Brakes Corporation in Indiana. She retired from her job at First National Bank in Florida where she was a Finance Proof Department Manager for many years. Ginny enjoyed arts and crafts, especially crocheting, knitting, and painting. Nature inspired her, as many of her oil painting depicted deer and waterfalls. She was patriotic and humble, and was known to never take credit for her work. She was an avid bird watcher, and cherished her time watching deer and birds eat from the feeders. Ginny enjoyed living in the mountains of Tennessee along with the oceans of Florida. She was an Elvis Presley fan. Most important to Ginny was the time she spent surrounded by her family, which could be seen in how she interacted and cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by her many family and friends.

Ginny is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas York; son, Scott York, of Tennessee; daughters, Tammy Wall (Wally), of South Carolina and Lisa Barnes, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Damon York, Alexia Fernandez, and Sara York; great grandchildren, Taylor Nielson (Alex), Harmony Shoaf, Nova York, and Phoenix York; brother, Chuck Martin, of California; sister, Lynne Varga, of Indiana; brother-in-law, James York, of Indiana.

A Life Celebration will take place on Friday March 2, 2018 from 1-2:30 pm with a Funeral Service at 2:30 pm at Aycock Funeral Home, 950 NE Jensen Beach Blvd, Jensen Beach, Florida 34957.
