Gisela Shivers

Gisela Shivers passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, after a brief illness, in the home of her daughter at the age of 83. She was born on April 22, 1942, in Germany, the daughter of Margarete and Hermann Eckert. Mrs. Shivers will be interred at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana, to join her husband, Wade Shivers.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Shivers will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro, LA. The family will receive friends for visitation, prior to the service, from 9:00am to 11:00am at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shivers' childhood years were spent in Germany where she met and fell in love with an American soldier at the age of 17. They married two years later and their daughter, Gisa Shivers Hill, was born in 1964. Mrs. Shivers was employed as a sales representative/office manager at the State Farm Insurance Agency in Winnsboro, Louisiana for fifty years. She was an active member of the ABWA (American Business Women's Association), serving in various positions including President. Mrs. Shivers was awarded "Woman of the Year" at ABWA.

Mrs. Shivers loved God and followed Jesus. She was the epitome of godly love mentioned in I Corinthians 13 – kind, gentle, longsuffering, humble, softspoken and never envious. She loved her family dearly, her friends generously, and served her clients with excellence. Mrs. Shivers loved to laugh and play Rummikub with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Shivers is preceded in death by her husband, Wade Shivers; her parents, Hermann and Margarete Schmidt Eckert; brother, Hans Eckert; sister, Marianne Frötchel and brother-in-law, Gunter Frötchel.

Mrs. Shivers is survived by her daughter, Gisa Shivers Hill of Pineville and her granddaughters, Kaitlin Hanks (Michael) of Pineville and Onalise Stevenson (Zackary) of Beeville, Texas. She was the proud Omi of two great grandsons, Hudson Hanks and Walker Hanks of Pineville. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marianne Eckert plus a host of family and friends who loved her.
