Giuseppa "Josie" Panebianco, 92 of Freehold died on Tuesday March 5th at Sunrise Assisted Living, Jackson.
Josie was born in Catania, Sicily and lived there until moving to the United States in 1962 with her family. They settled in Gravesend Section of Brooklyn and eventually moved to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Many years later she moved to Raintree in Freehold. She was a parishioner of St. Gabriel's RC Church, Marlboro.
She enjoyed people-watching from her front window, watching TV, especially Soap Operas and when the Italian channel came to cable TV it became her favorite station. She enjoyed watching tennis on TV her two favorites were Andre Agassi and Rafel Nadal. A great cook, her specialty was her rice balls.
Her husband Lorenzo Panebianco, died in 1979.
Surviving are her children, Antonette and her husband Joseph Nocera, Estero, FL, Robert Panebianco, MD & his girlfriend Terianne Darragh, Parlin and John and his wife Maria Panebianco, Jackson; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Mike, Christine and Mike, Christian, Julia, Matthew, Gabriella and Valentina; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Anabella, Michael and Joseph.
Visitation, Friday March 8th, 4 to 8 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 9th, 11:00 am at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, 549 County Route 520, Marlboro. In lieu of customary remembrances, Josie's family asks with gratitude that contributions in her honor be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
