Giuseppe "Pep" Polverini, 81, of Downingtown, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Maria (Fersini) Polverini. On July 6th they celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Born in Campli Teramo, Italy on August 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Paolo and Teresa Celii Polverini. Giuseppe immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1962. He truly loved America and was so proud to live in this country. He excelled in his work as a self-employed general contractor. Later in life he enjoyed his work as a custodian at Shamona Creek Elementary School. Giuseppe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Downingtown. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony's Lodge, as well as the Crossroads Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed sewing, gardening and wine making, and his specialty was making homemade prosciutto. He will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Maria are his children Giuseppe M. Polverini of Downingtown, Antonio G. Polverini, husband of Judith, of Adamstown, PA, Maria Goodine, wife of David, of West Bradford, PA, and Vincenzo T. Polverini, husband of Candace, of Downingtown; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother Pietro Polverini; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Iole Velenosi.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 332 Manor Avenue,
Downingtown, PA 19335. Visitation will be from 8:30 AM – 9:45 AM prior to mass at the church.
The family would like to make a special note of thanks to all who cared for Giuseppe, especially his family physician, Dr. McGuire, the doctors at Chester County Cardiology - Fern Hill, including Dr. Mark, Dr. Pearson, Dr. Riordan, Dr. Boyek and Dr. Hui, and the nursing staff on the 4th floor of the Cardiology Unit at Chester County Hospital. Your care for Giuseppe brought the family much comfort.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Giuseppe's memory to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the National Center for Padre Pio.
