Seminole, OK resident Gladys Billie Whitley passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 in Shawnee at the age of 89. Billie was born on September 25, 1936 in Wewoka, OK to Robert Mance and Laura Mae (Yarbrough) Wallace. She grew up in Cromwell, OK and attended Butner schools. She married Sherman Otis Whitley on February 26, 1954 in Wewoka, OK.
Billie was a member of First Baptist Church in Seminole and taught a Bible School class. She was also active with the Pink Ladies and worked at the election polls. Billie was also a teachers aide at Pleasant Grove School. Billie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She never missed a ball game, school event or program. Billie enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, playing cards and dominos and watching sports on TV. She especially loved watching her grandkids and great grandkids in their events.
Billie is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, David Whitley and Jimmy and Charlotte Whitley; sister, Bonnie Faye Redding; eleven grandchildren and spouses, Billie and Jackie Gamble, Jamie and Saul Vazquez, Dava and Steve Quisenberry, Jennifer and Sabra McDougal, David Whitley Jr., Chris Whitley, Kimberly Whitley, Stephanie Whitley, Janice Whitley, Charis Whitley and James Whitley; great grandchildren, Brooke Gamble, Migel Vazquez, Jaycee Gamble, Olivia Vazquez, Brianna and Devin Newby, Bradyn Woods, Bryce Woods, Halle Quisenberry, Jake Quisenberry and Landon Whitley; one great great grandchild, Kolton Newby and many other family and friends.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sherman Otis Whitley; sons, Keith Whitley and Kenneth Whitley; daughter-in-law, Brenda Whitley; brothers, Lowell Wallace and Roy Wallace; sisters, Bobbie Lassiter and Shirley Wallace.
Billie’s family will welcome friends and family on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
